Bound For....High PPV Prices?

TNA had their annual Bound For Glory pay-per-view on Sunday. However, the price to order the show increased $5 to $34.99 for the program, as opposed to $29.99 before. Now, $5 obviously isn't a lot of money, but it's a curious time for them to be increasing prices for their product since the economy is doing so poorly and Americans aren't able to spend as much money. Fans are wondering if they are going to raise the prices on all of their pay-per-views or just Bound For Glory and try to hype it up as their big show of the year, like WWE's Wrestlemania. It will be interesting to see if a price increase will affect their PPV buyrates when those numbers eventually come out.

I agree, it does seem uncanny that PPV would increase their prices at such a bad time. But maybe in hopes of fan loyalty, PPV is depending on consumers to be less sensitive to price and maintain their purchasing patterns without price elasticity. Personally, I am not a wrestling fan; however, with the VH1 shows, "Hogan Knows Best" and "Brooke Knows Best", in addition to the gossip columns about the divorce between Terry "Hulk" Hogan and his wife, I have actually found myself searching websites to learn a little more about the sport.
